Pain treatment unit
This unit specializes in diagnosing and treating chronic pain from any cause and origin that does not respond to the usual analgesic medication. At the pain clinic, we use minimally invasive and specific techniques for each case, controlled by ultrasound or radiophysics. Most of the procedures are out-patient and, therefore, do not require admission.
Services we offer
- Diagnostic and therapeutic blocks:
- Peripheral nerves
- Interlaminar and transforaminal epidurals
- Intradurals
- Selective radiculars
- Neurolytic and non-neurolytic blocks of the cervical, dorsal and lumbar sympathetic chains
- Pulsed and conventional radiofrequency:
- Peripheral nerves
- Intraarticular
- Facet joints (middle branch of the dorsal root)
- Dorsal root ganglion
- Epidural with stimulation catheter
- Sympathetic chain
- Infiltrations of trigger and muscle-tendinous points
- Intra-articular infiltrations
- Placement of intraneural catheters for pain control
- Implantation of pumps for infusion of analgesic drugs
- Implant of posterior cord neurostimulators
- Epiduroscopy and epidurolysis by secondary adhesions to spine surgery
- Administration of intramuscular Botulinum Toxin
- Transcutaneous electrical stimulation
- Iontophoresis
Pathologies we treat
- Headaches and migraines
- Spine pain (cervical, dorsal, lumbar and sacrum)
- Joint pain (shoulder, sacral-iliac, hip, knee ...)
- Ischaemic pain
- Neuropathic pain
- Cancer pain
- Fibromyalgia
- Hyperhidrosis
- Lower back pain as an outcome of spinal surgery
- Post-herpetic neuralgia
- Peripheral neuritis and diabetic neuropathy
- Polyarthritis
- Complex regional pain syndrome (reflex sympathetic dystrophy)
Equipment
- Ultrasound
- Next generation radioscopy
- Neurostimulators
- Radiofrequency transmitter
- Minimally painful introducers and needles
